Jimmy V came to Z Car Garage with his 2012 Infiniti G37 Sedan, aptly named the “GNTLMN Z”. Jimmy and Rob discussed options for the best exhaust system, tuning and suspension. We got him dialed in with a Fast Intentions cat-back exhaust system using 18″ resonators and 2.5″ piping, Motordyne ART pipes, and Hotchkis sway bars:

Jimmy wanted to see dyno results before/after with no tuning at this time. With Stillen Gen3 intakes already installed we baselined at 301hp/250tq and 315hp/256tq to the wheels with the new exhaust components:

We also installed a new battery in his key fob and GNTLMN Z was off to Enjoy The Ride. Thanks for coming to ZCG Jimmy, and we like how your G has progressed!

Daniel M came to ZCG to add a few touches to his commuter: a 2007 Infiniti G35 sedan. With 69k on the clock we installed a Stillen Gen. 2 cat-back exhaust system, UPREV tuning and Hotchkis sway bars.

400whp Sleeper: Paul’s Vortech Supercharged G35

Paul S owns a smog shop in South San Francisco and contacted us about making his Infiniti G35 a “sleeper”. You know, the kind of car that looks very stock from the outside but gets down like the “other” high-hp cars coming out of Z Car Garage. We discussed options for forced induction and decided on a Vortech supercharger–making good power and having CARB legal status was very attractive.

The VQ had 98k miles and to prepare for boost we performed some preventative maintenance including a thermostat change.  The Vortech kit was the V3 model which is self-lubricating and polished:

UPREV Tuning: Joey’s Q60 and Dax’ 370z

We love to install bolt-on parts that add power to your Z/G car. At Z Car Garage UPREV tuning can maximize power gains from individual modifications like intake/exhaust upgrades. Here are two examples of how we consistently achieve better performance through tuning, with mods or even without!

Joey T’s Infiniti Q60 gained 18hp/11tq with UPREV tuning for a total of 323hp/267tq to the wheels. Note the increase in power and torque from 2500rpm to redline:

Dax S’ 370z picked up 14hp/8tq for a total of 315hp/255tq to the wheels. More importantly is the power delivery with gains throughout the entire rev range:

The final Canepa Cars & Coffee of the year was held on 10/11. To celebrate our good friend Lou S’ birthday we joined him for a morning drive to Canepa. Instead of taking the direct route via HWY 17 we Enjoyed the Ride though HWY9/Big Basin Way and Skyline.

A Skyline mountain blast wouldn’t be complete without a Skyline! Lou naturally chose to drive his classic R32 Skyline GT-R:

Adding to the fun our group also included Andy in the Mazda RX-4 wagon, Rob J’s beautiful S30, Henry’s R35 GT-R, my ’67 Datsun Roadster and Rob Fuller in a Porsche 911 Turbo (for sale soon):

When we arrived, Canepa’s parking lot was already full and our group was relegated to overflow parking, which was a car show in itself! Mandatory Datsun content: I found two S30s,  stock and with massive flares/Chevy V8 power

Canepa as usual were gracious enough to open their entire facility to the public. Touring the showrooms and shop areas with soft pretzels and strudels in hand was a great way to start the morning!

Looking pretty in red, a recently restored Ferrari 288 GTo and Testarossa:

Turbo Fan madness! Love these BBS icons on the several Porsche’s. The Rennsport prep was strong inside Canepa!

This ’32 fordor hot rod caught my eye with old-school tricks mixed with modern touches. Halibrand wheels, 6-piston AP calipers, 427ci small block with Gurney Weslake heads…

Back in the parking lot, more interesting cars show up. A crowd pleaser was this La Ferrari, parked next to Mclaren:

Lots of bathub and 911 Porsche’s:
