Nick K has been coming to Z Car Garage for several years. He makes the trek all the way from Sacramento and we’re proud to be the only shop that gets to work on his 2004 G35 Coupe. In 2012 we first met Nick, UPREV flashed his car and performed routine services. He had daydreamed of one day doing a supercharger kit.
A year later Nick K’s engine was tired. With 209k miles on the clock he dropped the G35 off at ZCG in preparation for a fresh start and…boost! We removed the ailing VQ35 engine and installed a complete VQ35 from a customer who wrecked his car with 50k miles on it:
With the engine out it was prudent to install a JWT HD clutch/aluminum flywheel. We did a Vortech tuner supercharger kit using our recipe of 1000cc injectors, GT MAF, and Aeromotive 340 fuel pump. To keep everything cool in Sactown heat we installed a 25-row oil cooler. In 2013, Nick was on his way with a new engine and boost, enjoying a nice 140hp/105tq bump in power for a total of 386hp/334tq to the wheels:

We love to install bolt-on parts that add power to your Z/G car. At Z Car Garage UPREV tuning can maximize power gains from individual modifications like intake/exhaust upgrades. Here are two examples of how we consistently achieve better performance through tuning, with mods or even without!
Owen T had his 370z towed out of state for another tuner and he reached out to us for re-tune of an existing tune. The UPREV software is very user-friendly and a must-have for owners that have bolt-ons. Owen’s Z34 picked up 16hp/10tq for a total of 309hp/256tq to the wheels. Strong gains throughout the entire rev range:

It is a small world when it comes to the Datsun community and we love being a part of it. Jobie brought his Datsun 510 to Z Car Garage for dyno tuning on referral from our good friend and overall-stellar Datsun dude, Troy Ermish.
Jobie’s Dime didn’t always look this pretty, as shown above left running a single carb Z24. James Johnson applied the paint and a year later the car was dropped the car off to Troy for a L20b/Mikuni 44 engine. Ermish Racing prepped the chassis with parts from Techno Toy Tuning on the front suspension, Troy’s Wilwood brake kit and bespoke rear suspension parts. We are smitten by the stance on this thing, sitting perfect on nicely spec’d 14″ Hayashi Street wheels. Great choices in the interior too:
On the dyno we saw peak gains of 8hp/4tq for a total of 166hp/157tq at the wheels. The real improvements can be seen under the curves with consistently more hp/tq throughout the rev range:
The car is setup from open track enjoyment yet still street driven:
“I always heard Troy talking about bringing cars over to Z Car Garage for a dyno tune. I try to get the 510 on track ever other month or so. So far, it’s only been to Laguna Seca, but this year, I’m planning on track days at Sears Point as well”
Enjoy The Ride, Jobie!

Our good friend Anthony S. is a hardcore Datsun enthusiast and owner of this sinister 510 wagon. We first met Anthony years ago at the All-Datsun Meet at Mt. Shasta. He started visiting the shop frequently, driving this wagon all the way from Oregon to San Jose, CA and we attended many events together. Anthony built this 510 from the ground up himself, and it has been constantly evolving. He started with a rather unorthodox inline-6 cylinder engine, the Toyota 7M-GTE:
This single-turbo setup spun the ZCG dyno to almost 400rwhp! Anthony is a track nut and the 510 has seen many days running hard at Portland Int. Raceway. Suspension and brake modifications include Brembo calipers up front, a linked Ford rear end and massive 255/35 tires in front with 285/35 rears.
The car has gone through some serious development including a full 2JZ-GTE engine, rear-mounted radiator setup and larger fender flares–all fabricated by Anthony himself!
In his quest for more power Anthony recently visited us again for BC cams and Haltech tuning. We started with a baseline of 399hp/332tq to the wheels. After the cams it made 447hp/347tq:
With Haltech tuning final numbers were 461hp/362tq at the wheels:
More pics of Anthony’s fabrication work:
This Dime looks so sinister on the road with its gargantuan tires just barely contained by the fender flares, we love it!
Thank you Anthony for letting us be a part of your 510 build!

We love the latest version of the Nismo 370z. In fact this is the aesthetic that should have been released from the start! Although the Nismo Z has improved cosmetically the drivetrain still summons the same 350 horses and 276 lb-ft of torque it has offered since the package first appeared in 2009(!).
Power junkies need not fear, Z Car Garage is here to help. With only 22k miles on the odometer, Rasheed B came to us with his stunning 2015 Nismo Z finished in Pearl White for a full Vortech supercharger kit.
Here are a few pictures of the Stillen Black Series supercharger kit installed:
Stillen 25-row oil cooler:
How does it perform?
Bone stock from the factory, the Z put down 295hp/242tq. The Stillen supercharger added 84hp/58tq to the wheels with the kit-supplied CAN tune:
Rob’s tuning yielded even more power with final numbers of 420hp/320tq, improvements of 125hp/78tq over baseline.
This Nismo 370z now has more power to back up those aggressive looks! Enjoy The Ride, Rasheed!
