Chris’ GTM G35 Coupe

Chris B is a long time ZCG customer and we have been with him through various stages of his build. Affectionately called “Lucy”, this beautiful G35 coupe has won numerous awards at shows including Hot Import Nights. Chris fanatically detailed the engine bay with polished and stainless parts abound. Even the Cosworth intake manifold was customized with candy-red carbon fiber to match the valve covers and huge Brembo calipers at all 4 corners.

Low compression in one cylinder and a feeling that he’d reached the limits of the Vortech supercharger sparked a call to ZCG. Rob and Chris discussed the next stage of boost for Lucy and it would be in the form of two turbos courtesy of a GTM Stage 2 kit! Parts arrived and the drivetrain was removed.

The built VQ was re-assembled with care and attention to detail considering how Chris insanely polished parts like the entire front end.

Behold the shine. Once you start polishing it is hard to stop!

With the engine buttoned down the GTM twin-turbo kit was installed. Note details like the manifold heat shields and insulation protecting oil/wiring lines near downpipes.  The fresh GTM stage 4 automatic transmission is a prudent upgrade to handle big power:

Twin-turbo VQ, welcome home!

Polished hot/cold pipes feed the GTM FMIC:

Rob’s conservative 91 octane tune yielded 450hp/421tq to the wheels. More power to come!

We love working with Chris and look forward to turning up the wick when the urge arises! Enjoy the boost and that wonderful engine bay!

Boost Is Better Now: Danny’s Vortech G35

Danny K. owns this slick G35 coupe sitting on one of my favorite wheels, the Volk SF Challenge. He had a Vortech supercharger kit installed by a local performance shop and unfortunately the car wasn’t running right. We discovered a vacuum leak at the injector rail and fixed a few other items.

The G now runs as it should and the dyno reveals a healthy drivetrain. With 398hp/331tq to the wheels we are confident that Danny is happier now:)

Sportier Sedan: Daren’s G35

Daren S. wanted to make his Infiniti G35 Journey Sedan more exciting to drive on the commute. Better breathing can improve power so we bolted on  JWT dual POP chargers and a Stillen exhaust system followed by UPREV tuning.

The POP chargers also add a very throaty intake sound 🙂

The Stillen exhaust system replaces the restrictive OEM parts and makes getting on the throttle a bit more satisfying:

On the dyno, the intake alone made a noticeable improvement in power from 260hp/235tq to 264hp/243tq at the wheels:

UPREV tuning makes efficient use of these breathing mods for a final output of 276hp/246tq! Gotta love that huge gain under both hp/tq curves:

Whoa is just as important as go and there are many options out there for improving braking performance. Instead of a full-blown big-brake kit Daren opted for a Stoptech Sport Kit:

This is a great alternative to OEM parts. When coupled with our favorite 309 pad and Stoptech 600 fluid this kit is perfect for spirited driving whether it be on your favorite mountain road or commute!

Francisco’s G35 Coupe

Francisco M met Rob at the Contra Costa Cruise last month where they discussed adding some bolt-on performance parts to his G35 coupe. The following day Francisco made an appointment and soon his G was treated to a host of go-fast goodies. From left to right: Motordyne plenum spacer, CF intake manifold, Motordyne XYZ pipe, Motordyne straight pipe, Amuse R1-T 3″ Titanium exhaust system and ART test pipes…

Let’s take a closer look at that pretty Titanium Amuse muffler+Motordyne exhaust combo:

ART pipes:

Plenum spacer:

Spacer + intake installed:

The G also got front/rear sway bars:

Stay tuned as Francisco comes back to ZCG next week for an UPREV tune to take advantage of all these cool bolt-ons!

Never Enough: Steve’s Vortech G35

Filed under: Featured Cars and Projects,g35,Performance
by Alvin G @ 10:53 pm on January 16, 2013

Steve S continues his mission to extract as much power as possible from his Vortech supercharged G35. Our last update netted 548hp/431tq at the wheels but Steve really wanted to push the stock block even further. He sourced an upgraded drive belt to allow a pulley change. He also designed his own cold-air intake with a 4″ inlet plus a massive air filter to improve breathing. Again, this is on 100 octane and ZCG does not advise pushing a stock block this far. Do not try this at home. With the new intake and pulley the G made 572hp/456tq at the wheels!
