8 Years of ZCarGarage!

by Alvin G @ 3:03 pm on April 7, 2012

As we celebrate the 8th anniversary of ZCarGarage I want to take a moment on behalf of myself and the staff to say Thank You! When I started this business 8 years ago I never imagined how time would go by so quickly.
Over the years we have built some really cool rides and met some great people. At the end of the day ZCG isn’t just a place that repairs and customizes Nissans it is also a way to share our love for Japanese sport cars.
You dream it and we help build it. Build it to drive it!!! Not a lot of trailer queens out of this shop.
I am ready for the next 8 years with many exciting cars and good times ahead. Please remember it is you the customer that helps us raise the bar and we wouldn’t be here without you.

Thanks for the support!
Long Live the Z

Datsun Roadster Fun Run Pictures…4/1/12

Today I joined 4 other Datsun roadsters today for a drive out to the coast. We were lucky to catch a break from the rain and it was a gorgeous day! I met with fellow owners Mike and Ken in downtown Saratoga. You might remember Ken’s wicked supercharged KA powered roadster we featured earlier this year. We started driving up Big Basin Way to Skyline and it was brisk and traffic free. Here is a short video of the run up Skyline to Alice’s Restaurant:

Alice’s was crowded. We were not the only folks jonesing to get outside and enjoy the break from rainy weather. I spotted this modified Z33 with a very cool plate that read “FAIRL8Y”.  We met up with 2 more roadster owners, Rich and Corey, talked for awhile and headed down 84 towards San Gregorio.

This is a very picture-esque road that winds its way from the Santa Cruz Mtns. …[read more]

Memory Lane 510

I was digging through old photo albums when I found this photo from 1998. Our friend Jan T’s Datsun 510 next my ’77MGB in a school parking lot. I can still remember Jan giving me my first ride in a Dime…he would make the rear end step out on a 1-2 upshift while turning onto a street…good times!

Wednesday Night Drags…3/7 Report

Filed under: Events,Featured Cars and Projects,Performance
by Alvin G @ 12:19 am on March 9, 2012

Everyone had a great time at the Wednesday Night Fun Drags! Several ZCG customer cars and friends participated in the fun at Infineon Raceway and here are a few highlights:

Racers and spectators all wanted to see Walt’s GTR in action and the 600hp beast still struggled for traction even with it’s tenacious awd system and launch control…watch how the car squirms in 1st and 2nd gears!

Walt ran a best time of 11.09 at 128mph…Godzilla put on a great show.

Gary S. ran his super clean S14 240sx with recent turbo/exhaust upgrades. He piloted the Silvia-powered beauty to a 13.2s at 111mph pass. This car looks so understated, even when staging at the dragstrip!

This was Jeff V’s first time at the dragstrip with his 2012 Mustang GT. The ‘Stang recently got a full Vortech kit installed at ZCG and we’ll give you a full report this week. Jeff ran a 13.9 at 108mph, not bad for a beginner!

Who can forget Joe E’s RED ALERT Titan truck…he rocked a 14.3s 1/4 mile!

Rob drove the ZCG 300zx Twin Turbo and ran an incredible 11.7 at 127mph!

Scott S ran his gorgeous JRZYZTT on low boost for an impressive 12.7s at 120mph pass. He is ready for 10s now with his new cage 🙂

Here is what the launch looks like from inside the cabin…those poor street tires can’t match the power!

Wade W drove his Datsun 240z with the full RB26DETT Skyline drivetrain swap. This car is too nice to take on a dragstrip right? Wade knows that Datsuns are Driven! He ran a solid 13.2s at 105mph. Yes, this one does go to Eleven.

Thanks to everyone for coming out and making it a memorable day! If you are interested in joining us find out more information HERE, and keep an eye on the blog.
