June felt like Stillen Supercharger month at the shop. Since Stillen has made significant changes to their kit including the use of a Vortech blower, this is now a very popular choice for great power gains and CARB-friendliness. Naturally, Z/G enthusiasts are lining up to enjoy some boost!
We have three Stillen S/C builds to report. Let’s start with Daly C’s 2009 G37 Sedan. You might notice that the kit still uses the pretty “Stillen” cast intake manifold with dual throttle bodies on one side:
Here are a few in-progress pics of the install. Daly has GTM oil and tranny coolers and GTR one-step colder spark plugs:
While the G was here we gave Daly a full 30k service for peace of mind and upgraded Stoptech brake pads. The before/after:
So how does the Stillen kit perform? With the baseline CAN tune from Stillen, it produced 373hp/282tq to the wheels. This is an improvement of 89hp/40tq with most of the gains only noticeable after 4krpm:
Rob’s tuning however, turns Daly’s G into a different beast now making 414hp/317tq to the wheels. This is a significant peak increase of 38hp/35tq to the wheels over the base tune! More importantly, the gains are available throughout the entire rev range. Lots of area under the curve to enjoy!
It’s always gratifying to see total gains above baseline, so here is what the +130hp/75tq improvement looks like:
Daly we love your sleeper G37 sedan. Tune in next week for the second Stillen build!

Mike U came to Z Car Garage for a Stillen intake install on his 2013 Nismo 370z. This is his first sportscar and he’s got more mods on the way including a Fast Intentions exhaust system UPREV tuning.

Our customer and friend of the shop Bill Clark just reviewed the 2014 Nismo 370z for
eBay Motors Blog. In addition to giving readers a taste of the 370z, he also compares it to his slightly modified 350z.
Bill’s 2007 350z was one of the first HR-powered cars at ZCG to receive a Bassani exhaust and minor bolt-ons resulting in just over 300whp. Time does fly and these mods were installed six years ago! Good news is that Bill is still Enjoying The Ride in his beloved 350z and he was kind enough to think of Z Car Garage when writing his eBay article. We happily dyno’d both the Nismo 370z and Bill’s 350z so check his
review out for the results!
Thanks again Bill for giving ZCG a shout in your review!

David Q is a new customer and came to Z Car Garage for some bolt-ons on his 370z. We installed a Berk cat-back exhaust:
Stillen intakes and Motordyne M370z intake manifold:
On the dyno the motor dyne intake increased mid to upper rev range torque:
With the Berk exhaust and UPREV tuning even more low and high rpm hp/tq gains were seen:
Final results of 308hp/263tq to the wheels are improvements of +6hp/18tq. More importantly than peak gains, check out the significant gains in hp/tq from 3krpm all the way to redline where the Z makes almost +25hp/tq!

Alan E is a long time customer of Z Car Garage and started his boost habit in 2009 by
Vortech supercharging his G35. It wasn’t long though before he realized that stopping this relatively heavy, 500hp beast with tired stock brakes may not be the best idea. As you readers may notice, we have installed several OEM 370z/G37 Akebono-based brake kits on older chassis Z/G cars. This setup is a great alternative to the existing BBK players out there like Stoptech/Brembo/AP, etc.
Larger than stock, vented Stoptech rotors help shed heat for repeated fade-free braking. Stoptech vs OEM G35 rotors (rear) shown:
The calipers look great behind Volk SF Challenge wheels:
Better braking capacity to reign in that grin-inducing power plus good looks!
