In 2012 Jack W was visiting the SF Bay Area on his way down from Canada. He heard about Z Car Garage and stopped by for UPREV tuning on his Z34 Roadster. We also discussed the possibility of force-induction via GTM’s newly developed (at the time) TD05 16g twin-turbo kit. The following year Jack crossed the border once more to visit ZCG and make the commitment to boost! We installed a GTM Stage 2  TT kit with their supporting parts including a 25-row engine oil cooler, automatic transmission cooler and valve body upgrade.

On the dyno the GTM Stage 2 kit produced 434hp/360tq to the wheels:

Jack’s Z was one of our first cars to receive the PLX Devices gauges which became popular on later builds.

We mounted the PLX DM-100 in the factory clock gauge-pod location:

We installed camber arms to complement existing coil-overs and after we performed 50 miles of test driving Jack flew down to SJC and drove back to Canada in his boosted beauty.

13k miles later we are happy to report that Jack’s GTM-powered 370z has been running flawlessly. He came back to ZCG to do a full inspection, oil change and a re-tune:

With 455hp/379tq to the wheels Jack Enjoyed The Roadtrip back to Canada, another happy ZCG international customer!

At Z Car Garage we love to help enthusiasts by installing customer-supplied parts. Eric R purchased these hot rod goodies online and came to us for installation on his 2014 370z:

Stillen Gen 3 Intakes are a proven way to increase mid to high-range power on the VQ37HR:

The 370Z has been discovered to suffer from high oil temps when exposed to extended periods of spirited driving. Once oil temps reach a specific temperature, the vehicle’s ECU will put itself into a “Limp Mode” cutting the power to the engine.  The solution? An engine oil cooler, this one is a great unit from Z1 Motorsports:

Stainless steel braided brakes lines can also help with pedal feel compared to the stock, rubber lines:

The perfect balance to improved intakes is to upgrade the exhaust side. Eric chose the TDX cat-back system from Fast Intentions. Aside from the power gains this carbon fiber muffler option also saves weight:

And yes i does look great too!

UPREV tuning maximizes power gains from these bolt-ons. The Stillen intakes and FI exhaust pushed power past the 300whp mark to 307hp/258tq at the wheels:

With UPREV tuning we extracted 10hp more to the wheels for total of 317hp/258tq, noticeable improvements in mid to high range hp and torque:

How can we help you add power and performance through bolt-ons on your Z or G?

Are You UPREV’d?

We love to install bolt-on parts that add power to your Z/G car. At Z Car Garage UPREV tuning can maximize power gains from individual modifications like intake/exhaust upgrades. Here are two examples of how we consistently achieve better performance through tuning, with mods or even without!

Mike F is a long time friend of ZCG and owner of a very cool 700hp Fox-body Mustang. His daily driver and family-unit vehicle is this G35 S sedan and Mikey want to give it a little more oomph.

We installed Berk high-flow cats followed by an UPREV tune.  The automatic-equipped G gained 18hp/11tq for a grand total of 277hp/249tq to the wheels. Another significant benefit of tuning: the VQ can now rev all the way to it’s sweet 7500rpm redline!

Scott A’s Nismo 370z is a great example of UPREV tuning improving power/delivery without any bolt-on mods.

AA ZCG 31013 055

With tuning the Z is now past that magic 300whp mark at 314hp/262tq to the wheels. Great all-around gains in torque with significant mid-to-high range gains in horsepower…just from the UPREV!

Fog Light Install: Tim’s 370z

At the shop we love to install performance parts but we too can appreciate aesthetic improvements as well. Tim D came in for a rear fog light install. As most 370z owners know, all non-US spec Zs came with a functional, red fog light just below the rear license plate area. US-spec cars however have a “blank” piece in place here but thanks to the aftermarket there are kits available to restore this item.

After proper wiring this “smoked” rear lamp is now functional!

ZCG CAM 1 71314 006ZCG CAM 1 71314 016

The neat part about this kit is that the light can be tied into the brake, flasher, and turn signals with or without a switch. Got a cosmetic part that needs installation? Let us know if we can help!

UPREV’d: Matt’s 370z

Matt found Z Car Garage by referral from a local car wash. He had installed a few bolt-ons and needed a tune so we UPREV’d his 370z. Baseline numbers were 294hp/238tq and after tuning 309hp/253tq:

Matthew W Z34 Uprev (1)

The dyno shows significant gains in hp and tq throughout the entire rev range. We are big fans of UPREV tuning and it consistently works well when optimizing individual mods. We will have more examples this week on both NA and FI cars so stay tuned!
