Sitting Pretty: Rich’s G37 Sport Coupe

We met Rich G when he called us about the suspension on his 2011 G37 Sport Coupe.  After visiting a wheel shop to get new wheels/tires installed he reported the car was bottoming out and felt very unstable. Rich sought out a specialist (sound familiar?), called ZCG and met with Rob to assess the car. We put the G up on the rack and noticed installation of very aggressive H&R lowering springs. The springs and aggressive wheel/tire fitment made the car bottom out and also cause excessive camber wear.

We immediately changed the springs to a set of Eibach progressive rate units which are fantastic for a car that just wants to be slightly lower and enjoyed as a daily driver.

The wheels were wrapped in new Hankook v12 evo S2 tires and SPC  F/R control arms help keep the suspension properly aligned. The G still has a nice stance:

Rich’s son is a younger fellow and removed the rear muffler so we put it back on for Rich. If you are going to wear tires like an adult sports car…it might as well sound like one too:) After the G was sorted we heard from Rich a few weeks later and he was super stoked with the way the car rides.  He was also happy to report perfect tire wear too.

So here we have another great example of the specialty shop working for you! Enjoy The Ride, Rich!

Hello Zcarblog readers! In our next blog posts we aim to demonstrate the importance of a specialty shop for your Nissan/Infiniti/Datsun.

Let’s begin with Justin L’s 2013 370z. He had a Stillen supercharger installed at a local shop and while there are many competent shops that can get your car ready to go, the specialist exists for a reason: we have become proficient at specific installations because the are part of our daily routine.

The Stillen supercharger kit for the Z34 is an install we are intimately familiar with, and as a result we corrected several things on Justin’s car including engine codes and a fuse in the intercooler pump system that wasn’t allowing water to be pumped into the IC.  We also adjusted the clutch pedal and crossed the T’s and dotted the I’s as we do for many folks that bring their cars to ZCG.

Rob tuned the car using Ecutek software flashing with a MAP sensor instead of the MAF and Stillen-supplied CAN tunes.  Moving to speed density allows more control improved driveablity from idle to on boost. The results were impressive:

Justin’s Z came to us with 360hp/291tq and left with 396hp/321tq at the wheels. Gains of 36hp/30tq using slightly less boost as well with gains throughout the entire rev range. Justin is a happy camper and hopefully we’ve gained another customer for life. Long Live The Z!

Alix’s Twin Turbo 370z

Alix V comes from Salinas, CA and we first met him in 2014. With 4,641 miles on the clock he brought his 2012 370z in to have us correct several items from a dealership that tried to install a GTM Twin-Turbo kit.

We installed a Z1 25-row oil cooler, resolved the turbo kit installation issues and got it running well.  Over time the GTM exhaust manifold started to crack. With GTM going away we had to wait for the new company Gamma Motorsports to release a V2 of the manifold.

They changed the metallurgy with a new updated design as well and gave Alix a set for us to install. Although power levels stayed about the same (383whp/371tq), boost was no longer able to escape from an exhaust leak so we were able to make more area under the curve:

We also installed new Whiteline diff bushings:

Finally, the PLX Devices is a great product that is perfect for any owner with a forced induction setup on their 370z. We all know the clock is the clock.  No need to keep time when driving your Zed, just need the vitals:  coolant temp, air intake temp, and of course A/F ratio:

Enjoy The Boost, Alix!

UPREV Tuning For Your Nissan

by Alvin G @ 3:56 pm on March 14, 2017

We love to install bolt-on parts that add power to your Z/G car. At Z Car Garage UPREV tuning can maximize power gains from individual modifications like intake/exhaust upgrades. Here are two examples of how we consistently achieve better performance through tuning, with mods or even without!

Owen T had his 370z towed out of state for another tuner and he reached out to us for re-tune of an existing tune. The UPREV software is very user-friendly and a must-have for owners that have bolt-ons. Owen’s Z34 picked up 16hp/10tq for a total of 309hp/256tq to the wheels. Strong gains throughout the entire rev range:

Bob’s Infiniti G37X Coupe

Filed under: 370z,Featured Cars and Projects,Performance
by Alvin G @ 11:42 am on March 8, 2017

Bob C came from Sacramento with his 2013 awd G37 coupe. He had performed several modifications himself like Stoptech big brakes and now he was ready for power upgrades.

We installed Stillen Gen 3 intakes for Bob and he was a bit nervous because this job requires a little surgery around the radiator support to fit. After the intakes were in we called up Bob and he hung out with us for the day so we could show him how to avoid hacking up the radiator support and make it look awesome.
