R35 GT-R Receives Eibach Pro Kit Springs

by Forbes @ 12:46 pm on January 22, 2009

We had a new customer with a Gun Metallic GT-R here yesterday morning to install an Eibach Pro Kit spring set.  The kit is stated at lowering the car 0.8″ in the front and 0.5″ in the rear.  This is the first spring kit we have installed that hasn’t included some form of ride height adjustment.

The spring quality from Eibach is top notch as always and the install went very smooth.  The most time consuming part of the entire install is removal of the rear seats and most rear interior to gain access to the upper strut mount.  Once the car was re-assembled, a test drive was in order and we are happy to report that the ride quality is unchanged even with the lower ride height.

The pictures below are of before, after, and after:

The rear of the car will take a little more time to settle but the GT-R looks much nicer and more muscular with this subtle drop.  This is one of the best changes for the money on an already stellar car.  Enjoy the pictures.

by Forbes @ 8:10 pm on January 21, 2009

As some of you know our GT-R is over at SSP for some new product prototyping.  The latest thing out (read: you heard it here first) is this long runner intake system.  The rest of this post is going to be straight from the press release from our guy on the inside of it all.  We are well on our way to having the most powerful GT-R in the US.  There will be more to come in the morning.  Enjoy the words and photos.

SOUTH SIDE PERFORMANCE INTRODUCES THE WORLD’S FIRST INTAKE MANIFOLD FOR NISSAN’S R35 GTR , THE SSP 820RS INTAKE!

Sioux Falls, South Dakota (January 21, 2009) – South Side Performance is offering, another world’s first for the R35 GTR, the SSP 820RS intake manifold. This component is just the first in a line of SSP products that will move power hungry GTR owners towards 820 HP, when paired with our recently released GTR820RR Turbo Kit.

The intake design is the result of months of testing a wide variety of shapes and designs before finding a design that would make big power, and still be pleasing to the eye. As with nearly all SSP products, the intake utilizes stock lines, and is designed to utilize perfect stock style fitment of all under hood accessories.

But, this intake is more than just a pretty face, as its main purpose is to provide the lung capacity to make major power. With just simple bolt ons, this intake has been proven to make 15 whp and 28 Ft lbs of torque on stock turbos. These power gains are linear and constant all the way to red line, as the intake feeds an ever increasing supply of air to the GTR’s fire breathing 3.8L V6 (SEE DYNO GRAPH FOR DETAILS).

Specifications:

The 820RS Intake manifold’s design utilizes time tested racing technologies to make its power. The manifold incorporates 5 in extruded D-Plenum technology, 2 ¼ in velocity stacks, and 45 degree intake runners that utilize a straight shot for air into the intake. The openings are machined 60mm openings for fitment of the stock throttle bodies, but the intake also incorporates some room to grow should you want to later upgrade to larger throttle bodies down the line. The result of all this technology is an intake that has over 2 times the air volume capacity over stock and is also lighter than the unit it replaces. No need for your plastic intake cover as this intake is sure to draw they eye in either raw machined aluminum or a gloss black powder coat.

Price and Availability:

This upgrade can be purchased direct or from any of SSP distributors and is available today for $2,699.00. Availability is limited, as these units are built to order, but wait time will be minimal, usually about one working week. Here is a video and a dyno graph of the ZCG/SSP R35 on the SSP dyno out in South Dakota.  The car is out there to get fitted for prototype SSP parts, some are secret and some parts are meant to be released fairly soon.  So far they have fitted the SSP intake manifold and larger throttle bodies to get the graph below.  We can’t wait to see the next set of results!

I don’t have all the background info on the runs but I will try to dig up some for you.

There are going to be lot’s of other cutting edge GT-R modifications while the car is at South Side Performance and we could not be happier that we have teamed up with them to make one of the most bitchin GT-Rs on the face of the planet.  The best news is that you will be able to get all the latest updates on our GT-R right here as I get them.

SSP and ZCG together make killer GT-Rs.

Aren’t you glad you have zcarblog.com?

350z Updates (3.8 GReddy TT and Carbon Hatch 350z)

Filed under: 350z,Featured Cars and Projects
by Forbes @ 5:41 pm on January 20, 2009

So since this morning the formerly supercharged 3.8L 350z has had it’s heart completely removed.  It is currently being prepped for the GReddy TT kit.  The engine should be back in the car tomorrow if we don’t hit any snags and the car should be running and on the dyno in the next couple of days.  This car has been through so many stages to get this far and we are excited to have it up and running to it’s full potential soon.

The next update concerns the APS TT 350z that has more goodies than I can list here.  Like I said earlier, I’ll have a full write up on this car when this stage is finished, but for now the carbon hatch is back from paint and will have the new lexan rear window installed in a short while.

240Z RB28 Behemoth Update

Filed under: Featured Cars and Projects
by Forbes @ 4:05 pm on

We took a trip up to the paint shop to check out the Behemoth 240z and to drop off the recently rear-ended ZCG G35 twin turbo.  All of the firewall holes that needed to be plugged have been smoothed and a first coat of primer has been applied.  Now that the major work has been done attention will now be focused on smoothing every last portion of the entire engine bay to match the exterior of the car.

Interior paintwork is also set to begin very soon.  The only thing left to be decided here is if we will be making all of the interior paint match the rest of the car.  We really do want to make this one perfect.  More pictures will be posted when I get them.
