Khang D is from Modesto and we first met him in 2012 when he visited ZCG with a green 1975 Datsun 280z. We serviced the car, fixed several items, made a cold-air intake and he enjoyed it for a few years before selling. Last September, Khang purchased this white 1973 240z from our customer Brent B, and returned to ZCG knowing our familiarity with the Z.
Khang came in for full suspension upgrades, Z Car Garage Big-Brakes, new OEM mirrors, Panasport wheels and a complete tune+service.
The Z received full coil-over suspension from Techno Toy Tuning including T/C rods and rear control arms. The entire front suspension was re-done with new bushings, rack bushings, steering coupler, etc.
Struts, OEM T/C rods replaced with coil-overs:
Roll center adjusters from T3:
Rear lower control arms replace OEM units:
“WOW, what a difference. The feel, modulation, power, sharpness was amazing. Hands down the best brakes I had ever driven on a Z car” -Glenn
As Glenn C mentioned in his review, on top of braking performance, pedal feel is extremely important and our Big-Brakes deliver. This is a direct result of working with Stoptech to create a totally bolt-in solution requiring no M/C change or additional proportioning valve/adjustments, etc.
Khang’s S30 got the full 4-wheel brake kit:
We also installed the fully functioning parking brake that works with factory linkage/handle:
Brent B put a z31 side mirror that MSA sells, and it bolts on to the window frame. Khang didn’t like them as it dates the car so we changed the moldings performed ZCG door treatment:
We think it looks much better now:
We are an authorized Panasport dealer and lover. Khang’s meshies were replaced with 16×7 Panasports with 225/50/16 Yokohama S-drive tires. Finally, we performed a major service/tune-up including all fluids and remaining items that the PO didn’t get to.
As you can see from the smile on his face, Khang is very happy with the Big-Brakes and new suspension. We are discussing a possible 3.2L engine with Jenvey EFI after finishing Scott W’s 260z and Tim N’s 1973 240 builds. Khang is excited to match a new driveline to his fantastic chassis/brakes upgrades. Long Live The Z!
