The R32 GTR is arguably the best car to come out of japan in the early 90’s. As we all know, it demolished its competition in every branch of racing it entered, most notably the Australian Touring Car Championship, where it was so fast that it was banned from the series all together. Earning its iconic nickname: Godzilla.
Though I’ve always had a strong fascination towards the Nissan Skyline, it’s prestigious racing pedigree is what yearned me towards finally making the purchase of my own car. But enough about its epicness, here’s info on the car:
The car is a 1990 Nissan Skyline R32 GTR, that has gone under full compliance to meet California smog requirements. In fact, it was actually the first car to do so under the 25-year rule. Skyline guru Sean Morris and his team over at Top Rank Importers in southern California used this car as their primary example for their now dominated Skyline market in the United States. I have full documentation of this for proof, including confirmation from Sean himself. So if we’re talking significance here, this car would be considered the entry gate into California compliance GTR’s.
I’ve done my best to keep up with everything the car has ever needed. When it arrived, it had about 104,000 KM’s, and it now has just over 139,000. It has done weekends upon weekends of mountain driving, road tripping, highway cruising, car shows, cars and coffee events, and so forth. It has been as reliable as any Nissan would be, and I wouldn’t hesitate driving the car across the country if I had to. Below, you’ll find a spec sheet and maintenance info of things that have been done to the car since its arrival to California. At this point in its life, it needs absolutely nothing mechanically.
All electronics work as they should, INCLUDING the A/C, windows, lights, power locks, power folding mirrors, etc. The car runs and drives smooth as butter with no hiccups, warning lights, or anything of that sort. It is absolutely turn key ready for its new owner. The only flaws with the car are that it does have some light paint chips up front, and a few small/light scratches around, but nothing that can’t easily be cleaned up by a professional detailer. The passenger front seat does have one small cigarette burn because, well, Japan. It will come smogged for the new owner.
Current going rate according to Sean at Top Rank is around the 40-60K mark, depending on condition of the car, plus the 10k it costs to get it California compliant (my car was 15k to do so, since it was what set the benchmark – I have documentation for proof). This also doesn’t typically account for the assortment of maintenance these cars need to be brought back up to par. I haven’t met a single owner who hasn’t had to spend an additional 5k or so getting the car’s maintenance up to spec, and you will not have to worry about that with this car. Everything is up to spec and up to par already. All quirks and issues have been gone through and sorted out already.
The car is located in the Bay Area, and I can help pick up buyers from the airport if need be. I’m central to SFO, OAK, and SJC airports. Weekends would work best but I can make arrangements for weekdays if necessary. The only reason I’m selling is because I’m venturing into different cars.
